Balearic Islands

The beautiful Balearic islands are located in the Western Mediterranean sea, just a short flight from the European mainland.

The two official languages of the autonomous island group are Spanish and Catalan. Known for their seemingly eternal sunshine, sandy beaches and interesting cultural highlights, this group of 4 islands has quickly become one of the most popular travel destinations in the region. The largest of the islands is Mallorca with historic Palma di Mallorca as its main city. Millions of visitors flock each year to the beaches of Playa de Palma, Cala Millor, Cala D'Or, just to name a few. The famous majorica pearls are created here and Mallorca is most beautiful during the time of the blooming almond trees.

Menorca, the second largest island kept much of its original charme and besides a beautiful coastline, partly rugged with caves and bays and partly sandy it offers captivating scenery in the interior the island and southern European flair, not to mention the great cuisine. Mahon, the main city enchants with its large harbor and the historic architecture.

Ibiza, the party island of the group, has attracted the international jetset for decades and is not slowing down. But beyond all the glitz one can find amazing spanish architecture, historical sites and beautiful landscapes.

For a more serene time, there is the small island of Formentera. It can be reached by ferry from Ibiza. The smallest of the Balearic Islands is known for its sea salt production and laid back atmosphere.
