This tropical island of Cyprus is one of the largest in the Mediterranean. Cyprus is the third largest island for its region, measuring well over the mark of nine thousand kilometers in diameter. The land itself is dominated by two major mountain ranges.

The northeastern sector of the island is the location of the steep group of mountains known as the Pentadaktylos range. On the opposite end of Cyprus lies the wooded and actively volcanic stretch of peaks called the Troodos Mountains. The area that is between these mountains is the Mesaoria plain, which serves as a rich source for both wildlife and plant life. Mesaoria itself is a wonder all on its own. It is made up of both warm, sandy shorelines, as well as several pebble beaches. There are also the rugged bay areas, surrounded by sharp and rocky cliffs.

Not only do the natural wonders of Cyprus serve as wonderful attractions; the island’s cities also offer wonderful recreational activities for tourists to partake in. One of the main factors that the island of Cyprus is widely acclaimed for is its excellence in cuisine. Many people enjoy visiting the coastal restaurants for local seafood, fresh fruits and vegetables and overall great service. Cyprus is also noted for its cultural value.
Particularly, the city of Nicosia is where many of the performing arts and musical recreation takes place. In general, Cyprus makes a worthy experience for travelers. The island’s magnificent beauty and recreations offer a great deal of enjoyment.
